At PracticalAI, we compare AI to the humble spreadsheets every business uses – it’s an incredibly powerful tool, but 20 years ago without some basic skills and training it might have been mistaken for just a silly gimmick.

The truth is, just like the humble spreadsheet, AI will be a game-changer for every business and professional across all industries – if you know how to use it.

  • Access the first module of Practical:AI Foundations for free.
  • Share with your team to quickly form a common understanding of the new capabilities and challenges that AI brings.
  • Watch to the end for a preview of the rest of the Foundations workshop.

The full Foundations Workshop also contains modules on Prompt Engineering, Image Generation and a deep dive on Risks and practical use cases.

Still waiting for the AI hype to turn into real value?

Does your team see AI as a Tool or a Toy?

System-level knowledge depends on tool-level knowledge

Normally the adoption of tools and techniques takes care of itself, teams organically develop skills and acquire new ones as people join.

That’s a status quo that’s held true for so long we’ve forgotten how to adapt to a faster pace of change. Imagine how hard it would be to create new systems and processes if your team didn’t understand similar tools?

  • Could you have a data strategy if Excel skills weren’t common knowledge?
  • Would app development be possible at a company where only 1 in 10 owned a mobile phone?
  • Remember the challenge of maintaining brand consistency before Canva and Figma?

‘Wait and see’ won’t be a viable AI strategy

We take tool knowledge for granted but when the pace of change is this extreme the adoption of AI skills will be uneven if left to the usual Youtube ‘One weird trick…’ videos and vendor ‘Lunch & Learns’ pace of change.

ChatGPT launched Nov 2022 and could summarise text, today it can complete PhD level research paper tasks and perform tasks as varied as extracting CV details to writing meeting action items. Not since mobile phones or potentially even the internet itself have we seen a technology mature as quickly as AI is currently.

No signs of AI slowing down

AI isn't following the normal S-curve

Normally in tech we see a burst of progress followed by a plateau, a pause that gives us all time to adopt to the new normal.

Researchers looking at AI aren’t seeing any sign of that plateau coming in 2025 or beyond. To quote the AI research firm Epoch AI:

“…To put this 4x annual growth in AI training compute into perspective, it outpaces even some of the fastest technological expansions in recent history.

It surpasses the peak growth rates of:

  • Solar energy capacity installation 1.5x/year
  • Mobile phone adoption 2x/year
  • Human genome sequencing 3.3x/year

Testimonials

Nicole Stirling

Nicole Stirling

CEO

“…I knew we should be getting so much more value from AI (for our clients, and for our agency) but despite my team dabbling, spending time reading articles and watching videos about it we didn’t see it translating into outcomes.

Practical:AI provided us with clear guidance on how we can achieve commercial value from AI. The day after the workshop the team immediately started making use of what they were taught and now it’s common behaviour to head to ChatGPT, and not Google for our research, design, copywriting and anything that requires analysis.” - Nicole Stirling

Paul Armstrong

“…a fantastic learning experience.

This course would be valuable to everyone, especially public servants who may have recently lost their jobs, and public services trying to figure out how to replace what their people used to do.

This is not a moment to look back. This course enables the motivated to not only look forward but practice how to start moving forward.” - Paul Armstrong

Dave Knight

Dave Knight

“Such a valuable course. A great day with a fabulous group.

If you are a business owner, founder, sole trader, this course will help you leverage the power of AI. Importantly you will learn its (current) limits and get actionable insights in how to get the best from this emerging tech.

Much more than AI buzz… this is substantial content and tools!” - Dave Knight
